Sloppy Joes with Coleslaw

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 tbsp dried dill
  • 1 tbsp dried parsley
  • 1/4 cup dried butter milk powder
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper taste
  • hamburger buns

Directions:

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large sauté pan. Once cooked, transfer the cooked beef to a colander and rinse off any excess fat. Set aside until ready to use.
  2. Heat the sauté pan again and add enough olive oil to lightly coat the bottom of the pan.
  3. Add the onion and bell pepper and sauté until fragrant. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
  4. Add the cooked ground beef back to the sauté pan and simmer for about 10 minutes. If needed add a little water for consistency. Salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve with your favorite hamburger buns and side dishes. Enjoy!

Coleslaw

Ingredients:

1 head of cabbage (green or purple)
¼ cup rice vinegar
½ cup vegetable oil
2 tbsp freshly chopped dill
1 tbsp whole grain dijon mustard
Salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste

Directions:

1. Thinly slice cabbage and place into a large bowl.
2. Mix vinegar, oil, dill, and dijon mustard together and pour over cabbage.
3. Add salt and pepper to taste.
4. Chill and serve.
