Chocolate Chip Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tbsp yeast
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups high protein flour (bread flour)
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl add the evaporated milk, yeast, egg, and sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes
  2. Add the softened butter, flour, and salt.
  3. Knead until mixture pulls together into a soft dough, (About 10 minutes).
  4. Add the chocolate chips to the dough and allow the machine to knead them into the dough. You can knead the chocolate chips into the dough by hand if desired.
  5. Place dough into a lightly greased bowl and spray the top of the dough with vegetable spray to prevent it from drying out. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and allow dough to double in size.
  6. Divide the dough into to equal portions. Shape dough into rounds or shape into loaf shape and bake them in loaf pans.
  7. However you decide to shape the dough place the rounds onto a parchment lined baking sheet or a vegetable spray loaf pan.
  8. Brush the shaped dough with an egg wash (1 egg, 1 tbsp water whisked together).
  9. Just before baking, make one slice in the dough (about 1/2 inch deep) across the top of the dough.
  10. Bake prepared dough in a preheated oven (350 degree’s) for approximately 25-35 minutes. Everybody’s oven is different so adjust the cooking times as needed. Bread should have a beautiful golden color and internal temperature in the dough should be at least 195 degree’s.
  11. Remove from oven, allow to cool. Serve and enjoy!
